Session 21: God helps those who help themselves.

The reading assigned for tomorrow's class talks about the women's perspective about the field of IR and how through the course of history, almost half of the world's populations has been marginalized when deciding the states behavior with the rest of the states in the world. She talks about how women's opinion hasn't been given due attention and how the field of IR lacks to depict the perspective of women about the related field.
After reading this chapter I think the root cause of all these problems is the socially constructed knowledge and norms that tend to mold our behavior and in turn shapes our behavior as the society around us expect us to behave. The women themselves have to vanguard their fight against this tyranny and not act in the conventional way where they are expected to be protected by someone else. As we have studied earlier that states behavior with the external depends upon its internal state of affairs. So, if the women increase their influence in internal affairs it would certainly yield them positive results where they would be able to exercise their power in international spheres. The biggest problem, which I suppose for women in increasing their influence in international arena is their lack of involvement in the military. But, we must keep in mind that in recent times military is not the sole factor in deciding the behavior of states, there are several other factors where women can increase their influence and consequently, increase their involvement in the international affairs.

  1. Okay post and yes, women have increasingly played an important role in international relations. Their voice and perspectives matter.
