In their piece "International norm dynamics and political change" the writers Finnemore and Sikkink emphasize on the study of norms and their impact in bringing a political change and setting of behaviours by different states while interacting with each other. he talks about the trend which is gaining strength recently where international political scientists are going back to the way of thinking which dominated the minds of political thinkers in the early times. the writers also reiterate the life cycle of a norm which contains three phases; norm emergence, norm cascade and internalization.
I agree with the main argument put forward by the writers that it is the norm which determines a political change and decide the behavior of states when interacting with other states. this can be exemplified with Pakistan's and other muslim countries support to Saudi led war against the rebels in Yemen. And these norms are now determined on the basis of rational economic reasons along with the culture of the that country comprising of its religion, location and language etc. in the past we can observe that the economic element in the decisions by states was there, but it was never such a dominating factor as it is in these modern times.

Okay post. You're right that norms play a huge role nowadays in determining both individual and state behavior.
